I finally took some pictures of my commuter:

It's a DiamondBack Override that I picked up used at the end of June this year. Anyone know anything about this frame? I don't know how old it is, and my research hasn't turned up anything. It's the first bike I've owned in about 6 years, since my old road bike was stolen.

I've been riding it to work everyday since August, and I've put about 2500 km on it since I got it. I added the fenders, lights, reflective tape, new brake pads when the old ones wore out, a computer, and I put on snow tires at the beginning of December. Otherwise it's the same as when I got it, and I haven't had to replace any of the real components. I'm pretty happy with it, even if it does have the ugliest paint ever. Which is fine really, since it makes it less attractive for thieves, right? At least it's not pink. I suppose if it survives the winter I'll strip it and paint it a different colour.

Yesterday's project was making a new light for it from an MR16 12V 20W bulb, based on this (although apparently Home Depot in Canada does not carry the same stuff as Home Depot in the US so I had to modify it quite a bit). The blue thing strapped down in front of the rack is a bag holding my pack of rechargeable batteries. The LED light that I bought in the fall just wasn't cutting it for riding home in the dark at night. The snow and ice we got last week convinced me that I needed a better light asap. Having a new light to play with may even convince me to get up and go to work early tomorrow.
