I'm not regretting buying it and paying the price I did anymore, I just sometimes get hit by a bit of a panic just after buying. Especially in cases like this where there really isn't that much information to go by and I'm parting with large sums (to a poor student like me).
Also I think differences in price levels and availability affect the perspective somewhat on things like this. For example the only cheap off the shelf fixed gear bike available over here is Bianchi Pista and I think that it has a price tag of 650€ (which is about $850 I guess). Then again if I chose to import from outside europe I would get hit with hefty shipping,tax and import costs. I considered hopping in on the BFSSFG Iro deal but that would have cost over 250€ and would have included a few months of waiting.
