OK, these are the first shots, ever, of the Clive.
The paintjob got away from me!
I started with the pearl white, and was going to do a pinto color scheme. Kind of Holstein cowlike, but in grey & brown over the white.
But then some friends came over...and I was doing a multicolored neon scheme on another bike. So out came the stencils & airbrush! Everybody got a turn making "grafitti" on the poor ol' Clive. And then I yanked the brake & shift levers apart and painted those to match.
So 15 years later, I'm still thinking that someday I ought to re-repaint it!!
Someday...
Meanwhile, here are the "specs"!
Campy NR headset, brake calipers w/flat QRs, front derailleur & shift levers. Rally rear derailleur. Original Phil hubs from '71 laced to 27" MA40's w/DT spokes & Campy QR's. Also a Phil Wood BB with the Stronglight cranks. The saddle is a Cinelli and the seat QR is a Ringle. I had the stem custom made by Rock Lobster (and painted it in the Stars & Stripes theme.)
Less than Campy parts?? (ie; garbage!)
The seat pin...SR LaPrade
Brake levers...DiaCompe EB2's
Bars...?!?
pedals...whatever I had handy.
So...
Does the Clive win the Fugly bike award?!?
