Nope, that shop sold the guy the bike without straps. You can see the picture in the blog entry where he'a complaining about how hard skidding and riding brakeless is.
So, i think that might be a bit shady.
OTOH I notice from the blog that this guy seems to be very intelligent and knows how to use the internet, which means he has no excuse.
