Yes, but I'm not sure there's much added value and you'd need to carry spare 1/8" chain segments and a couple 1/8" master links in the event you damaged the thing as you wouldn't be able to steal any links from your drive-side chain. Of course, the same problem exists if you mix and match 8 and 9 speed chains.

Are you just looking to "beef up" your timing chain on the Ventana or are you running fairly large timing rings that place the timing chain "in harms way" when you're crossing obstacles or dropping off of steep berms?
