I figured you're probably right, so I tried switching. My forks don't have the fittings for V brakes, but what the hell dutret, I know you're right so I can just give it a try anyway. I had to use electrical tape to secure the brakes to the fork, I know what you're thinking, but wait a moment it gets better... realising this would prevent the brakes from moving I actually taped Lego technics to my fork... it looks pretty good and the yellow Lego matches the paint work. After this I added my brakes to the bottom using some old doweling as the mounts, and attached the brakes. The clearance sucks, but I managed to get the brake pads aligned to the rim decently enough. Also had to change my existing brake levers, because they were canti compatible and wouldn't work with the V's, that's ok though, I don't have a lever lying around but I figured I can use a bit of that electrical tape to put the cable on the bar and just pull the cable in emergencies... I'm brakeless, so you know I'm not really going to need to brake, this is just for this experiment.

So I set off, it holds together and I'm feeling fine because I know dutret is right and that these V brakes rock. The bike looks cool too from the experiment, I know it must do because except for clearance V brakes whip the cantis ass. The problem is, I pull the cable to check the brake and was very shocked to see that the brakes aren't very good. When I came round I looked at the front wheel and can see that there is a lot of electrical tape and lego in the spokes, and that the brakes have been thrown off into the distance.

I'm sorry dutret, but the experiment failed, it would appear that V brakes aren't better than cantis in every respect.
