However, I don't have a police report. We called the police, but they said they do not send out officers for calls like this. Also, as I was sitting on the corner with witnesses around me, a police car drove by, the witnesses tried to flag him down, but he didn't stop. jerks. The lady at the police station said they would send paramedics if I needed them, but at the time, I felt I didn't need them.
I did get all the drivers information including insurance info. It was a company van as well.
I am thinking about stopping by the police station on my own, and seeing about filing a report, just so they have the information.
thank you all for the kind words and support. I hope to get this resolved quickly.
I am very glad that you are all right. Your situation indicates to me that to gain any sort of credibility with the police, a pedestrian or cyclist must go to the emergency room even if he/she checks out ok. The reason is that the emergency room doctor must sign you off, there will be a record of your visit, and your bike would be more likely noted-man on bike-and taken more seriously by the police. I know it is all a big hassle, but that is the way this legal world works.
