to the above posters... yes, the frame is bent at the slit from being pinched by the binder. yes, i have already purchased a new post, just waiting for it to ship, but seriously, despite the fact that breaking parts is bad, what is the worst that could happen in a week? the part is already broken, and probably has been ridden countless miles already in that state as i didn't notice it, and should it break further during riding, i don't see how it would even cause an accident, let alone one of atomic proportions.

the reason i'm so insistent is that while being my road bike, it is also my means of transportation to work at this time.
