One other question. How did you choose your size? They say they run true to the Brannock sizing (which I'm about a 10 1/2) but I wear an 11 1/2 in my Brooks due to having a little room to avoid black toenails. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

When I say its not good for walking I should have said that I would not use these shoes solely for walking. If your doing interval like stuff where your running for 10 or 15 min then walking for 2 min for recovery they are absolutely great for that. Its just that when you walk naturally (even when barefoot) your striking with your heel. The newton heels are good but they way the sole is shaped does not lend itself to long distance walking. So thats why for walking alone I still use the gel kayano shoes.

Oh, and if it's not too much trouble, an impression about running on soft surfaces like grass would be nice too.

Well on the cover of that triathlete mag there was a pro runner on a trail showing off his racing pair of newtons. And from the tech I would imagine they would be great on hardpacked dirt. Small pebbles and such should not be a prob at all. The little orange lugs on the forefoot actually compress independantly of each other mimicking how the barefoot would adjust itself according to what it lands on. You might actually enjoy these shoes more on the trail than on pavement as a matter of fact. Just buy the dang shoes already!

Test it on the trails and give us your own report on em.
