I agree with N7CZinMT, save your pennies for a while longer, go mow lawns or wash cars if you need to. But save a little more money and get an entry level bike from your local bike shop. These will always be better than the bikes you'll find at department stores. I would agree about looking at the Specialized Hardrock line. These can be had for around $300.
