Look at the results from your state championship TT. ALL of them. Calculate how many of the riders broke the hour. State of NJ TT championships: most of the times (I'd say 60%+) are over an hour. And people who participate in such TT's are often GOOD at them - the slower riders often don't go near them. Again, there are 50,000 licensed USCF racers. I'd be surprised if 10,000 people in the US could break the hour. If you can ride that hard, you're pretty fast.
