fixed...what's the big deal?

Why do people react to fixed gears like it's this suicidal crazy person thing to do? this is how all bikes were at one point. if they did it back then and it was normal, why is it considered crazy now?

I dunno...I just don't see why it's so crazy. I love riding fixed, but I don't think I'm a nut or a "wildman" because I do it. I just don't get it...what's the big deal?

the thing I always notice about fixie riders is that they're always really into their riding and their rides...and the cyclists I know that ride regualr road bikes always seem annoyed or not happy or constantly upgrading and spending **** loads of money on these stupid weight saving variations on crap they already have.

I dunno...that's not meant as a dis and obviously I know not everyone that rides a regular bike is unhappy and all that...they're just my observations.
