In an urban environment, the per-mile casualty rates are actually a bit more favorable cyclists than for pedestrians. Of course, your mileage may differ.

Cycling is by far my favourite exercise, although I also enjoy hiking, jogging, fast walking, moderate weightlifting, and indoor or outdoor rowing. Because my hand-eye and large muscle coordination is so abysmal, I have never been a successful team sports player.
