Is there anybody who has worked at a LBS that can tell me if this is a likely/possible scenario.
Guy walks into an LBS with money to burn. He always buys the best even it's not right for him. Example, he's got a pair of ski boots he never wears because they're too damn uncomfortable. He chose them over a pair costing half as much that felt twice as good.
So anyway, it's the later 70's and asks the LBS staff to show him the best Peugeot "10 speed" they've got. He wants a Peugeot because he's heard of them. They pull out a PX10 that fits him. He says it's great but he doesn't want to have to reach way down to shift, he wants shifters on the stem.
Staff person shows him a UO8/9/10. Customer says, "Yeah I like that. How much? What?, Why is it so much cheaper than the other one?"
Staff person explains. Customer wants the best but wants stem mounted shifters. He asks staff person if they can be put on the PX10. Staff person hesitates, but then says, "I guess we could do that"
