I read somewhere - don't know where - that if you are right-handed you should clip in with the left foot first and then the right because you have more control over your right foot . . . or something like that.
That's just backwards from what I normally do but I have been trying it lately and it works.
As for the part about "you will fall" with clipless pedals . . . I have been clipless on my mountain bike and my road bikes since the early 80's. I have never fallen. (Now watch. I'll probably go out and fall this morning.
