I'm a graduate student so my hours are a bit flexible. It takes about a hour and a half each way so I usually leave at 8am at get there at 9:30 and leave at 6:30pm. Given Chicago's rush hour traffic I don't lose much time biking, in the morning especially. Plus I don't have to worry about parking. What my colleagues spend each year for parking, you could buy a pretty nice road bike. The exercise is nice as well.
