Highways may also be blocked off by other cruisers (RMP's) in such a situation. Police also regularly are involved in making helicopter evacuations possible roadside. Furthermore, some of these evacuations are done by police helicopter. In fact, if you live in the state of Maryland (and some others as well), and are critically injured on your bike, it well may be a State Police Officer that saves your life, as they are the primary helicopter medics in that state.
