I went from Speedplays to the Keo's. I personally hated unclipping out of the Speedplays. Felt like I had to practically twist my ankle and even then, there was never a solid release - the cleat just kinda slides out. With the Keo's, there's a definite click when you get in, a click when you get out. I much preferred that.
As far as the float, once I got the cleats dialed in to where I like them, the less float of the Keo was not a huge deal at all.
Only other deal was I had to readjust my seat - lower it down. The speedplay cleats are really tall.
All in all, love the Keo's, sold the Speedplays. Never looked back.
