r i can get a rigid fork with a 20mm axle, a new front wheel, make it geared (all i would need is a rear deraiilluer), the fork can replace a 3-4 or 5-6 inch travel fork
these questions are all answered by personal preference- there's nobody that can tell you (without knowing more about your height, your type of riding, the type of terrain, and what your riding strengths are) whether you're better off geared or ss, 29er or 26, and rigid or suspension.
personally, i thought i was 26 ss rigid. it took one ride on some gnarly technical trail to learn that i'm really a 26 geared suspension rider in that situation. but on fire roads or double track i'm fine ss/rigid.
