I have a friend who broke out all the lights and a couple of windows of a driver who hit him and drove off. The caught the driver of the car as a result of the damage and his insurance covered damage to the bike, but my friend had to pay for the damage to the car and attend anger managment classes. It ended up costing him more than just fixing the bike but I think it would be worth it.

Look at it this way, if they never find the guy at least you ****ed up his car. If they do, at least the guy gets a hit and run on his record even if you have to pay for damaging his vehicle.
