I bought a nice Japanese bike from a CraigsListing that had a hodgepodge of components -- mainly Shimano, but also French (Maillard rear hub and freewheel), a few other European bits; and the jewel was a Campy SR crankset. Riding it home from the train station on a 95-degree day in the city I got a flat, and I figured that the gods of ethnic cycle purity were angry. So I sold the crankset (too long for me), gave the wheels away (weren't very nice), and I believe the bike looks much happier. The rebuild is going totally Japanese.
