The spandex doesn't mean you can fly through stop signs inches from where other cyclists are coming to a stop. The spandex also won't protect you when that angry cyclist pedals up behind you and yanks your handlebars as he passes.

Hmmmm.....I think most of the guys in my club could certainly hold their own in a fight whether or not they were wearing spadex. They are some uber-fit mother scratchers. And their nature is fairly aggressive (that may just be why they like crits so much).
Be careful that you don't end up feeling ashamed because a man in tights kicked your *****.
