I have a 70's Dawes Galaxy, and it's loverly. Chromed fork crown. They did come with centrepulls, which are easily available, and work quite well. I can measure the reach of a set, if you like. If you go to 700c, it's going to mean you need a smidgen more reach. Galaxys were really good quality, but don't expect it to pretend to be a track bike; it's a touring frame, so it's going to be a very stable, conmfortable, but not particularly quick handling bike. On the plus side, when you want fenders and a rack, you're sorted.....
