Some recommendations for quiet roller riding:

(1) any trace of a tread on the tyre will make for noisy roller riding, so use slicks
(2) make sure the tyres are clean, and that they're fitted correctly so that there are no "bumps" (use witness lines on the tyres)
(3) clean the rollers; and make sure they're smooth (cheaper rollers tend to have uneven spots or casting marks in their surfaces)
(4) lubricate bearings of rollers
(5) make sure rollers are level
(6) make sure rollers are adjusted to fit bike

er, um… that's it!
