Talking of frames, I got excited about a LeMond frame that is at Fitzroy Cycles, Carnegie, so I took my scales down to weigh it (what a geek), and this "modern" steel frame, made with 853 (57cm) is 1770g (no fork)!!!
This is only 90g lighter than my 1988 Raleigh 531c, and the Raleigh has lugs!!. I know 853 is more about stiffness and strength than weight, but still.
That's because 853 is *****

Okay badsac, how do you feel about being a bit of a guinea pig? I haven't tried to to the 'order a complete partset from overseas' before - how would you like to be the first?. For a hugely reduced price, you'd get a Custom Tephra ( except I pick the geometry based on the info you give me ), handmade steel forks, full Ultegra 9sp, Ultegra/Open pro wheels, Ritchey WCS stem and post, Deda 215 bars, Flite saddle - everything you need for a complete bike except pedals for......A$4332. That's roughly a grand off retail. *rubs eyes* Waitaminute....maybe thats a bit cheap......
