Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

$83 ? So you got the basic PI short? The Ultrasensors are about that in $USD.

They're the Attack short, not the Quest or Liner shorts. US$64.99 equates to around $83. But yeah, I'd sure like to try some of their dearer shorts. Although these ones seem very good compared to the $100 Netti ones I;ve been using.

I've had no problems with my Netti's with the blue chamois....you guys are wearing them the right way around arn't you?!

I bought some Santini gloves back in July last year and they are still as comfortable as the day i got them. Think i paid around $40 for them.

Thylacine,
So how do you know Boure? Pretty obscure company that gets
really great reviews for their products.
If we are talking shorts/bibs I need to put in my obligatory plug
for Etxe-Ondo. Simple Chamois that looks/feels like real chamois,
excellent quality, relatively cheap (and hard to find in US).

I hear good things about Hincapie's line of clothes but haven't
tried any of them yet.

Marty

Today I had the pleasure of doing some intervals. I only felt like puking the once. Coach sez that's not good enough, I must push harder. ie. I must feel like puking for the whole time, and actually puking once or twice would be the sign of a true man. I'm pretty sure some blood wouldn't go astray either. Sheesh

Mate, you've heard of the Internet, right? I looked them up, they had a deal on for a set of shorts and a jersey, or I got them, and now I'm hooked. I always reach for those shorts now, and if they're in the wash I cry.
I got a pair of Classic shorts ( https://www.boure.com/1000.html ) in the dark blue Supplex that the womens shorts are made of. Supplex is great coz it's matte and super tough coz I use them mountainbiking as well. I think I landed them here for 105 bucks, which considering the quality is a killa deal.

If I find a small company that makes good stuff and has great customer service, I like to support them if I can. I'd be a hipocrite if I didn't.

I dunno if you're serious, but..........

I learnt very quickly that I can't do max or near maximum efforts without a THOROUGH warm up -- and by "warm-up", I don't mean cruisin' along at 80% max HR for 20mins (or how ever long), I mean, I've gotta do the steady-state warm-up, then do a few efforts that are closer and closer to maximum.

If I don't warm up properly, that's when I feel like spewin' up

WTF is a steady-state warm up. Second time I've seen it in a week. Couldn't be bothered googling for it.

I do 10 minutes easy then build on that for 10 mins until I'm near AT. Then it's into the first set. My problems (nauseau) start if I let my HR drop too low during the 10 mins between sets, and that's an easy trap for a razy plick rike me to fall into.

"Steady state" is just "tempo", or constant HR, or a sub-maximal time-trial...........I think

Yeah, ten minutes between sets is enough fo me to cool right down if I was just rolling along.

How long are the intervals?

[edit] can't add/subtratc/divide/etc

((1 min @ 90% + 1 min @ 85%) x 5 + 10min @ 80%) x 3

Hey Munchie,
Thought I'd join the bandwagon... when are you gonna start racing? Surely racecraft is best learned in a race?

Anyway, you're hardly gonna take everyone by surprise when you turn up with legs like the Hulk!
Plus me n Climbo will blow the whistle at the start line, mark the guy on the 2200, just watch out for him 1/2 wheelin you!

P

Legs like the Hulk??!? OMG: my catwalk days are over!!

Might race on Sunday...might not. And as for marking some poor newb on a 2200... well I might foil you plans by riding my 1800! Mewhawhawhawhaw [sn!gger][snort]

Anyway, I was thinking we could form a team: climbo can set a cracking pace up the little rise and I'll pretend to hold the line back so that the speed fluctuates visciously. Then, if anyone is still unwilling to crack, we'll bring you up to the front of the group and you can do you famous vomitron impersonation Game, Set, and Match!

If you do race, dont waste your time with b/c grade... straight to A.
I raced C 2 weeks ago and placed 6/25 with the fitness of a flounder.

This weekends strategy is to get to the front, quick sneezing frenzy & the avian flu should have kicked in for the bunch sprint!

Well done old boy! Top marks, eh what?

So what gives? All the "serious" racers easing back from criteriums as they prepare for the winter road season?

[edit] Sorry, that wasn't meant to be a slight on your racing ability Paul

Where's your favourite joint that sells online?

Hey, if anyone wants some red Michelin Prorace tires for $40 or less odd dollars give me a PM. After SomeGurl posted pictures of red tires on her Roubaix, I feel like going another colour (they only arived today).

Oi saccy,

Try https://www.probikekit.com/index.php...good & cheap!.....just don't buy anything called 'prorace' off them....total crap

The Aussie thread is a little out of control, so we've split the thread, closed off the main thread, and stickied it to the top of the forum so you guys can further view it as you want:

It's a little difficult to wade through posts when someone does something like report a spammer.... we don't know where the heck to look in the thread!

Here's where you guys can pick up your Aussie diatribing : https://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycling/57176-aussie-thread-part-2-a.html
