Its cheaper to lace them yourself and then have the LBS tension the spokes.
Not that you are a moron, but any moron can lace a wheel...its easy with a good set of instructions (easily found on the internet) and requires no special tools. So if you are on a budget its an easy way to save some money.

Or you could learn to completely build the wheel by yourself...thats what I prefer, but it does take some time and effort and initial investment in some tools. If you expect to build and/or repair multiple wheelsets, doing it yourself is worth the effort.
