i too had one. it was a 1988, all 105. it had a plastic or rubberized piece that fit in the cable hole. the fellow that has it now informed me that it was cracked around the hole but also mentioned it was easy enough to fix although he didn't mention how. likely a braze or drill a small hole at the end of the crack. i assume it wasn't a large one.
