I'll second Powerbar or Fig Newtons. Milk and cereal make me feel a bit ill when I first start riding; fruit or yogurt for some reason give me stomach aches after my ride. Regardless of what you eat, drink as much water as you can. The amount I drink before a ride has seemed to make more of a difference than what I've eaten before a ride.
