Good wool dose not develope the "stink" that modern fabrics do. I only wash mine when It really needs it. (you will know it when it dose). That being said I do wear a base layer between skin and the wool.

Wool socks on the other hand get washed after every use. I have 3 pair of knee high old school cross country ski socks.

Wool glove liners I may wash at the end of the season, and the same goes for the balaclava.
