Good wool dose not develope the "stink" that modern fabrics do. I only wash mine when It really needs it. (you will know it when it dose). That being said I do wear a base layer between skin and the wool.
Wool socks on the other hand get washed after every use. I have 3 pair of knee high old school cross country ski socks.
Wool glove liners I may wash at the end of the season, and the same goes for the balaclava.

I have a pretty good amount of Ibex and Smartwool bits and every one of them is wash and wear. Mind you I have a front loader, but they all get washed the same as my other bike clothes: Wash on regular cycle with a second rinse and in the dryer on low heat. Wash them as often as you feel the need. Good modern wool holds up very well.

I usually don't wash my wool jersey after every ride -- but I also never wear it without a base layer, and never in warm weather, only on cool or cold rides. I still wash it after two or three rides, long before it even gets an opportunity to get stinky.
