It has nothing to do with liking or not like drop bars, it's about using the right bar for street riding, not a bar designed for short track events.
All just depends on what type of riding you're doing. My nice bike = I'm sprinting on it, even if I'm riding to a friend's house a mile away I'm trying to spin out my legs. And I'm never riding more than 20 miles on it unless I happen to be racing and the alleycat is over 20. Therefore comfort isn't that much of a deal as say a 40-60 mile road ride in which case the bullhorn'd bike would be coming out. Well, the nice bike sees the track too, so there ya go. It's fun to ride in the street if for sprinting over short distances. Also doesn't hurt that I'm a bit of an idealist and the thought of riding a pure track bike on the street looks good in my head. Deep drops are also about the best thing in the world when piercing through a nice headwind in traffic, like a steak knife stabbing through a fresh veal cutlet...

My favorite bar ever would be B123's with dummy brake hoods for that bullhorn-like position. I'd ride that all day long.

I mentioned I'm the type of guy that rides in the drops about as much as I do on the flats and shoulders, yes? Good.
