Popular with leftist art punks in Canada too.... the kaffiyeh was my winter head wrap while messin' in Montreal. Fantastically warm and a great wind block as long as you learned how to wrap it sandstorm style properly, otherwise the damned thing would keep unraveling.
I love seeing this stuff come full circle, my daughter recently picked up a big RayBan-esque pair of glasses checkered two-tone and I had to laugh.
