I mated 10 speed campy to 10 speed shimano cassette. It shifts flawlessly, but if the shifting goes off, it takes a bit to get it to shift properly again. My guess is that the shiftmate makes it easier to get to the setting where it works perfectly.
I like the look of campy on the 84 trek I built up, but I don't want to use anything but 10 speed shimano wheels because I'd like to be able to move my wheels between my two bikes as needed. I might buy a shiftmate if I get fed up of having to make adjustments. At 40 bucks it's a lot cheaper than buying a new wheelset and cassette.
Slash, I might be interested if anyone is selling a used one that mates 10 speed campy shifters and RD to a shimano cassette.
