I assume you're talking about upgrading the pedals? MKS pedals are a great value. GR9's are good for riding in street shoes but they are kind of narrow. Sylvans are good, but the bearings are too dry out of the box and need to be repacked with grease and adjusted, but are great once they are lubed and adjusted properly.

As for the clips, I honestly like wide double gate plastic clips. They are ugly and won't get you any style points, but steel clips rub on my big toe through the toebox of my shoe, which hurts alot.
