I'm familiar with the problem. The bike shop I worked in years ago sold Viscount which is what the Lambert morphed into. What you need to do is a) replace the fork and b) take the bike to a shop with bottom bracket taps and have it tapped out to Italian thread. You can then thread in a cartridge with Italian thread rings.
