You can't tell someone they're riding the wrong frame just from a height measurement. If you're on a 53 and ride comfortably don't worry about what anyone says. As far as the handlebars, I have been accustomed to riding 42cm bars but 39cm B123s fit ok, just shy of being a little too narrow when holding the top of the bars but the drops fit great.
True, but within reason. There is a statistical normal distribution for frame sizes and human dimensions and for a good reason. At 6 feet, a 53cm is plain and simple outside any normal distribution. I dare you find me one professional cyclist in the pro peloton 6 feet tall on a 53 frame. You're not going to find it. (and they tend to ride on smaller bikes than average.)
