Welcome to the world.

Things to know:

- Riding bikes on the sidewalk may be illegal in your city or state (apparently it is for you)
- Taxes or no, as a citizen you have a right to the public way. This has been upheld by the Supreme Court. It's probably also specifically allowed in local vehicle code.
- Without bike lanes, you have a right to operate in the other vehicular lanes. Even with bike lanes you probably still retain this right (though that is not universally true)
- A bicycle is substantially smaller than a motor vehicle. A motorist who claims that they can't help but run into small targets in broad daylight clearly has no business operating a motor vehicle. God forbid they come upon something larger than a cyclist, surely they will be helpless to avoid collision owing to their poor vehicular control
- As mentioned, a death threat is a serious thing
