I recently bought a Miyata 3 speed that I believe is a 60s model. Can anyone tell me how to determine the year by the serial #? It is:

The seller confirmed that it was manufactured and sold in Japan and then taken to the US at some point.
Another question: what is the best way to remove rust? I have a product called The Must for Rust from the hardware store, which got some of it off. But the rust on the chain guard is proving tenacious.
