Many thanks for the information provided so far. Now that I understand that Mavic didn't make the fork, I took a closer look at the steerer. There's a label with a logo so small, I needed a magnifying glass to read the name under the logo. It's an "Advanced" brand fork. Looks like a Taiwan company that makes OEM forks. Note: I put up one pic of the old fork and the carbon fork. (Sorry about the camera shake) The race on the carbon fork looks flat, is that because it's designed for a cartridge? The original fork has a 1" bearing race.
