I actually got them in a thrift store on Orcas Island, WA. Parents are up there, tends to be a lot of (rich) hippies that toss good stuff. There is even a bike junkyard/community dump there. I have salvaged probably 8-10 serviceable bikes and sold them as fixes on eBay. Once found an Ideale model 75 leather saddle that I sold for $145 on the bay.
These were truly in a "dream" box. Included with the pedals was a Phil Wood BB tool, Campy peanut butter wrench, Molteni cycling cap, N.O.S. Nishiki headtube badges, some steel Sachs frame fittings for cable routing, Campy D.T. shifters, Suntour V G.T. Luxe rear derailluer, Shimano crank puller, Hozan third hand cable puller, a pile of new toe straps, Mavic branded Look pedals, several random clamps and things, and an old San Marco saddle.
Not bad, and I continue to find great things there. Methinks there was an old school bike shop that closed down and the boss is slowly tossing his collection.
DOH, I was up there in September! I had no idea! Totally bummed now.
Plus PDX has SO many bike shops, many deal in used stuff too so I think most people take their stuff there.
