Well, other than as a toy why? You can feel if you need to increase your engine RPM and know that means shift down or the reverse if you need to slow the engine RPM. What do you care what number gear the transmission is in?

I say this as a "toy guy" , so on that level I do have empathy for lighting the gear selecter, but I'd also understand there's no other valid reason for my wanting to do it.
