I've been a faithful reader and often contributor to this site. And based upon some of the threads that I've read on bicycle maintenance and the nature of the questions and responses, I think the last thing to do is remove the "dork" disc. In fact for most people on this site the spoke protector ought to be manditory until they can demonstrate some minimum mechanical skills and an understanding of how their bicycle works.

I would assume one would have mechanical skills or a mechanic at the LBS in order to perform the work involved with some of these upgrades, unless you consider a BB and crank upgrade something an average Joe off the street could do.
