I think you are mistaken...or, you're running some really crappy wheels.
You can get "Set 02" Pitlocks for front and rear wheels and seatpost, for $72.99 from

I bought my set of Pinhead skewers (2) for $50. My rear wheel costs about $200, the cassette costs $75, tire and tube cost about $40. Also, the Pinhead site says that they will work fine with horizontal drop-outs (I can attest to that), whereas the Pitlock site says that they are not recommended for HDOs.
So:
1 Pinhead skewer=$25
Replacing my rear wheel=$315
Spending 5 minutes writing a reply that no one will read=Priceless
