Fred: Derogatory term describing a male cyclist. Typically a novice or poorly skilled cyclist decked out in state of the art gear, top line bike, fancy matching cycle clothes, but without the skills or strength to ride effectively, fast, or far. Female version is Doris, or Wilma (sp?) depending on your source. Since the flintstones, Wilma is the first female name that comes to mind when Fred is mentioned, at least in the USA, so many find Wilma the natural counterpart of Fred.
The term has also been adopted as a term of endearment by many cyclists to describe the items they use that have practical value instead of racing value. Such as lights, fenders, racks, bags, and mirrors. "I know the mirror is 'Fredish' - but it makes my commute less stressful." In this manner, they have taken a derogatory label from others and "made it their own."
