I've found the Continental Country Rides I have on my trekking bike to be sturdy and they roll very well on pavement. I've put them through some nasty off-road trips loaded with gear and they have held up to my abuse. They are 1.75 size and a very reasonable price. 950 miles on them so far with no flats.
