For what it's worth, I see an awful lot of people in NYC riding fixies with bullhorns, moustache bars and risers. I don't think it's all a style thing. I've even been considering putting risers on my CX bike because it's just so much more comfortable for me in traffic. I haven't done it yet because it's a much more expensive and time intensive swap (changing out brake levers and shifters), and I'm reluctant to give up the option of multiple hand positions and aerodynamic advantages on longer rides or windy days. However, whenever I have to ride primarily in the streets instead of the park or on the bike trails, I grab the fixie with risers.
