If I remember right (getting old, I guess, things are getting hazy), Mike Buff and/or R.L. Osborne ran fixed freestyle bikes waaay back in the early 80's in some of their shows. Their gearing was close to 1:1 too. One of them had bars with 90 degree sweep too for doing boomerangs easier. Good stuff.
