Whatever works for you, just saying. When there are no straps to keep your foot in place in the clip, and that clip doesn't even cover as much of your foot, the probabilities for loosing your footing become higher. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. Combined with the fact that they flex more when pulling up, just can't see the reason for using them. Less stablility + less power = fail.
