Anyone using half clips?
I'm trying to find out if anyone uses half clips. These are the ones I am looking into getting:

Sometimes I have trouble getting my feet into my current clips and straps setup, so I think these would be much easier while still giving me the benefits of foot retention. Am I wrong?
For those that use them, how do you like them? Should I just stick with regular clips and straps?
They also make them with leather covers, which I like.

i'm using them right now...they're okay...they are easier to kick in...you only get about 3/4th the power transfer going to the pedals than if you used full clips and straps...pulling up on the pedals is harder and the half clips start to flex when you do...they're good if you don't do alot of uphill climbing or sprints...if you use them you should be running a brake as well...

Like it was stated above, good for single speed, not so good for fixed gear. Your foot isn't retained as snugly as it would be with full clips and straps, which is much more crucial when riding fixed. If you're spinning out down a hill and your foot slips out while trying to control your speed, good luck with that brake or not.

The whole purpose of a clip is to hold the strap.
Half-clips are useless in my opinion. You pedals should be easy to get into... maybe change out pedals instead of clips/straps?

That's what I use on my 21-speed hybrid. I like them. They give a decent compromise between control over the full arc of pedal travel while being able to get my feet out quick if traffic warrants it. Most of my time is out on the streets with cars and stuff.
Then again, I'm not doing fixie stuff...

Whatever works for you, just saying. When there are no straps to keep your foot in place in the clip, and that clip doesn't even cover as much of your foot, the probabilities for loosing your footing become higher. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. Combined with the fact that they flex more when pulling up, just can't see the reason for using them. Less stablility + less power = fail.
